BREAKING NEWS: Nigerian Govt reaches ceasefire agreement with Boko Haram

According to a breaking news report on Channels TV, the Nigerian government has reached a ceasefire agreement with Boko Hraram following today's meeting between government officials led by President Jonathan's principal private secretary, Amb. Tukur, Chadian government and reps of the sect group led by Danaldi Ahmadu.

To this end, the Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh, has directed all service chiefs to comply with the ceasefire agreement between Nigeria and Boko Haram in all areas of operations. Security Alert: Boko Haram's Intelligence Cell Busted And Its Head Arrested

Nigerian security have reportedly busted  Boko Haram intelligence cell headed by a businessman Babuji Ya’ari, who was allegedly involved in the abduction of more than 250 Chibok girls. 

In a statement released moments ago, the Nigerian military said it has arrested Babuji Ya'ari, (pictured above), who is described as the key actor in the Chibok girls abduction. Babuji, according to the military, was a member of the Youth Vigilante Group popularly known as civilian JTF, which he used as a cover to spy on the activities of the Nigerian security forces, acting as a spy & gathering information for terrorist group. The military also said Ya'ari has coordinated several deadly attacks in Maiduguri since 2011.

Emir Sanusi May Withdraw Lawsuit Against President Jonathan

Sources close to the former governor of the Central Bank and the new Emir of Kano Sanusi Lamido Sanusi said he might ask his lawyers to discontinue the lawsuit against President Goodluck Jonathan, Premium Times reports.

The National Industrial Court has fixed July 4 for the hearing in the suit that challenges Sanusi's suspension by the president over alleged financial wrongdoing.

At the resumed hearing of the matter on Friday, June 13, Sanusi’s lawyer Kola Awodein (SAN) sought adjournment to enable him consult his client. Awodein said that as in the period between the last adjourned date and today Sanusi was appointed Emir of Kano, his lawyers needed to consult him on what should become of the matter.

According to the sources close to the new emir, he would most likely ask his lawyers to discontinue the lawsuit as the matter has been overtaken by events.

Nigerian Singer, Kefee Is Dead

Nigerian singer and radio personality, Kefee Don Momoh popularly called Kefee who collapsed on a 14-hour flight to Chicago is dead.

 The Sapele born singer passed on in the early hours of today in an undisclosed Los Angeles Hospital in the US where she was rushed to for treatment.

Kefee's Publicist manager, Adeline in an official statement confirmed the singer's death.

Female gospel music star, Kefee Don Momoh, who was under intensive care in the United States for over a week, is dead.

Reports said the multiple award winning singer passed on at Desert Spring Hospital in Las Vegas, US, after she failed to recover from a coma.

Kano Governor Kwankwaso Explains Why Sanusi Was Chosen Emir

Presenting a letter of appointment to the new emir of Kano on June 9, the governor Rabiu Kwankwaso explained why Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was selected. He said the appointment had nothing to do with politics.

Sanusi, who until recently was the governor of the Central Bank, was appointed on Sunday, June 8. Two other contenders were District Head of Gwale Alhaji Sanusi Ado Bayero and Wamban Kano Alhaji Abbas Sanusi.

"We chose him because of his exposure, competence, experience and having lineage to the throne, as the culture and the norms of the emirate provided, the Kano state government decided to select him as the new emir of Kano," Kwankwaso said.

Professor Dora Akunyili Passes Away in India Aged 59

As family sources have disclosed to Sahara Reporters, former Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control and ex minister of Information, Professor Dora Akunyili, has died today.

She passed away at the age of 59 at an Indian Hospital where she has been receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment.

She was born Dora Nkem Akunyili in July 1954 in Makurdi, Benue State. Apart from holding highest offices in the NAFDAC and Ministry of Information and Communications, she was a pharmacist and governmental administrator. For her achievements, she gained international recognition and won hundreds of awards for her work in pharmacology, public health and human rights sectors.

The Gwoza Christian Community Association in Borno State has released details of disturbing disclosures made by six Christian girls who were abducted in 2013 by the dreaded Boko Haram sect.

The girls were abducted last year from different locations in Gwoza local government area. Their statements revealed that, following their abduction, they were subjected to serial rapes by Boko Haram terrorists. In addition, they were turned into domestic slaves in various Boko Haram camps before they pulled off their daring and lucky escapes. Continue...

Istifanus Ibrahim, one of the Christians in Gwoza, disclosed that the extremist Islamist sect had many abducted girls in their camps long before their abduction of more than 200 students from Government Secondary School, Chibok, in Borno State drew international media attention and global outrage.

Battle Of Pastors: New 'Synagogue' Church Opens, Diverts T.B. Joshua's Members

One of the pastors from the Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN has opened his own church not far from Prophet T.B. Joshua’s church.

In what seems like a battle of pastors, a breakaway clergyman from the Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, has set up a New Synagogue a stone’s throw from Prophet T.B. Joshua’s church and has been attracting a lot of members.

T.B. Joshua has warned his congregation not to attend the new church or be confused by the similarities between both places of worship.

The new church is called Christ Holy Mountain, A.K.A House of Prayer, but residents refer to it as the New Synagogue because the healing sessions, miracles and mode of worship is similar to Prophet T.B. Joshua’s.

U.S Prophetess Reveals Her Encounters With God And Satan

Bishop David Oyedepo Tasks President Jonathan On Terrorism

Popular Nigerian clergyman, Bishop David Oyedepo, has advised the Federal Government on the wave of terrism being perpetrated by the Boko Haram insurgents across Nigeria.

Punch reports that the founder and Chancellor, Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, told President Jonathan to find means of resolving the crisis rocking some states in the North so as to prevent the country from turning into a war zone during a workshop organised by the African Leadership Development Centre on the university campus early in the week.

Speaking on the theme: “The Leadership Imperative: Conflict Management and Conflict Resolution Demands for Inspiring Transformation and Driving Change”, Oyedepo stated that though conflict was unavoidable in any part of the world, it was important that the leadership of the country dealt with such in order to avoid a state of war.

“War is a sucker. It sucks the resources of a nation. Only those who don’t know its cost propagate it. We must not have war in Nigeria. We should not even think of it. Its consequences are unimaginable. War is a crime against humanity. It erodes human dignity, destroys and devastates. It is staring at us in the face but we must avoid it.

“I once saw a family in Iraq who were feeding on leaves from graveyard. That is what war can do. It destroys the humanity in us. There is no life in war,” he added.

4 Chibok Girls Listed As Missing Were Found At Home With Parents

Presidential committee on the abduction of schoolgirls in Chibok was reportedly informed that 4 girls previously listed as missing, escaped but their parents failed to provide the information on time.

According to Sahara Reporters, Borno State Commissioner for Education Musa Inuwa Kubo made this known last Friday.

The discovery was made when Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima ordered the Education Ministry to create detailed profiles on each missing girl. During that process, involving visits to parents, 4 girls were found safe at home.

It was learnt that these girls could be among those students who escaped when Boko Haram transported them to the unknown location. Following the return the parents probably failed to notify the competent bodies because they were afraid the abductors would return for the girls.

Having taken into consideration the latest data, Kubo concluded that the current number of missing girls is 219.

This however conflicts with the information provided by Chibok official Bana Lawan, who said 4 girls were released by Boko Haram insurgents due to illness. However, the government is said to be unaware of the alleged released, a source revealed to the journalists.

Provisional List For 2014 World Cup Finally Released

The highly awaited provisional 30-man list for the upcoming 2014 World Cup to be held in Brazil has been finally released, Premium Times reports.

As it was previously promised, the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, announced the squad submitted by Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, Tuesday evening.

The renowned players on the list are: Mikel Obi, Victor Moses, Vincent Enyeama, Sunday Mba, and Ahmed Musa. Apart from the regulars, Osaze Odemwingie and Joseph Yobo were also included in the list despite the controversies reportedly surrounding their relationships with Keshi.

The invited players will resume camp on May 26 before a final list of 23 players will be selected for the Brazil 2014 World Cup.

President Goodluck Jonathan who gave out his daughter, Faith in marriage today advised the newly married couple.

He gave the advice while speaking at the wedding reception at the International Conference Centre, Abuja saying

 “ My advice is that, today is a very special day we are all smiling and dancing but also note that there will be periods when the relationship will not work smoothly. That is a part of the life of husband and wife.”

ASUP Lecturers Threaten To Embark On "Massive Protest" Next Week

Next week, striking Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics lecturers may embark on a "massive protest" in the nation's capital Abuja. ASUP president Chibuzor Asomugha declared their intentions while speaking on a radio program on Friday morning.

Mr. Asomugha was a guest at Ray Power FM on their Political Platform broadcast.

He observed that the last meeting between the government representatives and the striking lecturers was held on March 26 in Abuja. Since then, the Union president said, they had not heard from the authorities.

Mr. Asomugha said it was agreed at the last meeting that the government delegation would brief President Goodluck Jonathan and come up with a "Memorandum of Understanding" that would soon be signed by both parties.

Although the Union president did not specify the date of the protest, he indicated that market women, students, lecturers and labour unions concerned with how the federal government was treating polytechnic education in Nigeria would take part in it.

He, however, added that the Union is still seeking an amicable solution to the situation and had appealed to Senate President David Mark, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives Aminu Tambuwal for their intervention. Senate President Mark promised to look into the matter after conclusion of work on the 2014 budget. The budget was passed by the Senate on Wednesday and by the House on Thursday.

New National ID Card Could Be Used As Travel Document

The new smart national identity card (ID) is in compliance with the security recommendations and standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and could be used as travel document. This was revealed after an independent laboratory and field test conducted on the new smart national identity card.

The Deputy Director of the National Identity Management Commission’s (NIMC), Mr. Abdulhamid Umar, disclosed this when he fielded questions from journalists at the Murtala Murhammed International Airport, Lagos at the weekend.

Daniel Paul Tammet is a British high-functioning autistic savant gifted with a facility for mathematical calculations, sequence memory, and natural language learning. He was born with congenital childhood epilepsy. Experiencing numbers as colors or sensations is a well-documented form of synesthesia, but the detail and specificity of Tammet's mental imagery of numbers is unique. In his mind, he says, each number up to 10,000 has its own unique shape and feel, that he can "see" results of calculations as landscapes, and that he can "sense" whether a number is prime or composite. He has described his visual image of 289 as particularly ugly, 333 as particularly attractive, and pi as beautiful. Tammet not only verbally describes these visions, but also creates artwork, particularly watercolor paintings, such as his painting of Pi.

Tammet holds the European record for memorising and recounting pi to 22,514 digits in just over five hours. He also speaks a variety of languages including English, French, Finnish, German, Spanish, Lithuanian, Romanian, Estonian, Icelandic, Welsh and Esperanto. He particularly likes Estonian, because it is rich in vowels. Tammet is creating a new language called Mänti. Tammet is capable of learning new languages very quickly. To prove this for the Channel Five documentary, Tammet was challenged to learn Icelandic in one week. Seven days later he appeared on Icelandic television conversing in Icelandic, with his Icelandic language instructor saying it was "not human."

One of the drivers of the popular ‘Uduaghan School buses’ provided by the Delta State Government for free transportation of students to school been arrested for allegedly raping two primary school pupils.

According to reports, a complaint by one of the parents of the rape victims led to the arrest of the driver (names withheld) on Wednesday.
It was gathered that two school children attending Ozigwe primary School Asaba aged 13 and 14 years were victims of the randy driver, whose wife put to bed recently.

President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday presided over the first meeting to fashion out ways to finally resolve Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, and the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union, COEASU.

The closed-door meeting which lasted for over one hour on Monday held at the Presidential Villa. Scan News gathered that the meeting which was chaired by President Goodluck Jonathan, was attended by Supervising Minister of Education, Barr. Nyesom Wike, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, directors of the Federal Ministry of Education, the Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Colleges of Education, NCCE, and the Executive Secretary of the National Board of Technical Education.
